One of the reasons I haven't posted much of anything for my Pallamaran AU in months was a lack of motivation, which was largely due in part to the lack of credible enemies. The location, replacing Diego Garcia is an excellent one, but the area is remote, and the only credible enemy is India, but with India as it is, there isn't much in the way of contention between the two. Indonesia was another enemy I'd considered at first, but again, further away, and with very limited blue water capability.

I then wondered about the plausibility of a communist revolution in 1950s India. It sounds like a good idea, after all a caste based society, millions of poor impoverished citizens, and other factors that should make it ripe for the great revolution. Assuming that this does happen, it would have a drastic effect on both world and regional politics, with China, N. Korea, Vietnam, and others communist as well, dominating the continent, though India would be mainstream Soviet Communist, rather than the Chinese Maoist/Stalinist variety, thus preserving that rivalry. I'm guessing this would also make things that much worse for Pakistan, if India is directly in the Soviet Sphere for assistance.

Before I actually implement this in the AU, I'm curious about what some of the members here think of the idea, since doing so would send ripples far beyond my AU nation.

If you're going for a communist revolution, I think it would have happened a little earlier, if at all. I think that, after being under British control until 1947, communist ideals would not have a strong appeal to Indians. During the 50's and late 40's, India was lead by Jawaharlal Nehru, Ghandi's successor, who pretty much had the support of a majority of the people, so a commie uprising is unlikey.

Hmm...sounds like I'd have to get rid of Ghandi entirely then.

That's easier said than done. By the time the British realized they needed to get rid of him, it was too late because in doing so they would cause a huge uproar, and probably have another mutinee on their hands. However, it could still have been done.

maybe that is the answer..... or maybe part of it. huge uproar, but Ghandi was never restored, instead 'viva la revolution' or something like that :P
