A bigger problem was the lack of a hangar for a helicopter. On such a large hull space should have been available. Most of the Bristol's weapons and a helicopter hangar fit on the smaller Type 42 destroyers.
...Which, notably, were so much too small for their combat system that they were first lengthened and then externally reinforced to hold together.
It's not all fun and games! Hull size isn't entirely defined by how many items one feels can be packed along the centerline.
