Are you sure Yourkevich meant for it not to have any real bridge? To me it appears rather dubious.

The design is drawn the a real drawing, so not sure what you mean?

Alvama, are you sure it's a completed drawing and not merely a sketch? I know Vladimir Yourkevich had a lot in his stew, much of which never saw fulfillment or completion. If you take another - closer, and critical look at your rendition of the Bretagne you'll see there's no bridge whatsoever! Where's the ship supposed to be conned from? Please point it out to me if I'm wrong! I sure cannot find it - hence why I suspect you may have used one of his sketches instead of actual drawings. If so, then you can postulate a bridge; maybe something akin to that of the United Nations?

Bezo: I think you'll find that most of these ships feature in the book "Damned by destiny" by Williams & De Kerbrech. This is a great book about never-built liners. I am now at the office, but I assure you that the drawing of the BRETAGNE in Damned by Destiny looks pretty much the same as depicted above.

Apparently it was fared into the forward superstructure. The only drawing I've ever seen is the one in "Damned by Destiny", which is what Alvama used for his reference. I've just found a picture of a model of Bretagne. It doesn't show a distinct bridge either. You can also see the side-by-side funnels. Very bizarre design, and little wonder it was rejected in favor of a modified Normandie design.
