Well, I want to put some bigger than average size engines in the ship, allowing for it to move allot faster so it can perform raid type attacks. The massive superstructure is the space that the engines took away from the below decks.

Her is my list on this:

1. The forward VLS is so high up that it interfere with the ship stability.
2. You don't need the aft VLS since the forward VLS do the same job.
3. The mast will work as a sail and can interfere with the boat handling and maximum speed.
4. since you have deck on both said of the superstructure, that means the superstructure will be high and thin.
5. High superstructure is Very very very bad for a high speed boat that needs to handle well.
6. all the wight of the superstructure will make it top heavy.
7. the helicopter deck can you build in to the deck.
8. the radar is a bit old, depends witch era this boat shall have bean build.
9. The funnel is OK but the engine needs air. a lot of air. (see real world vessel.)

Her I have make a list , other people on this forum can explain in more detail what I am on about!


(Rule number 1. for a god High speed boat is Sea-keeping and stability) so If you want a High speed corvette, you need a very low superstructure and mast an less or very light armament, jet turbines, twin shaft (not single). High speed boat doesn't mean that you will have that much larger engineering, It's all about wight saving.

Redone.

Removed VLS.
Mounted Phalanx in new location.
Integrated Helipad into deck.
Lowered mast.
Replaced radar with ARTISAN 3D. (Thanks to RP1 for the design)
Added intakes.
etc.

Personally I think it makes more sense to keep the forward VLS than the rear because the forward can carry other missiles than just ESSM making your ship more versitile and i'm probably wrong but I don't spot a director for the 57mm

normally, I would now start nitpicking on using the latest Mk 48, propeller, etc drawings, but there seems to be more to be done here before that, so I will first give some comments on the overall design.

- the aft of the current underwater hull is from the old OH perry drawing. take a look at that ship, and see what an hull like that can take. you will see that you have about twice the superstructure as the perry has, which isn't an very good thing.
- you want an high speed ship, right? an good one to look at is the USS LCS-1 Freedom. there might be others to look at, but that is the first of similar layout I can think of right now, and it will show you good ideas for the sizes of the structure and hull.
- the artisan and the mast details look off, as every other part of your ship is US designed.
- the phalanx will most likely have problems with interference from the smoke. why not move the phalanx to the HMG position, as the phalanx has an surface mode and should be able to do that task as well.
- the arnament is more like that of an OPV then that of an corvette, while your ship is closer to frigate size( I consider the aformentioned frigates light destroyers/heavy frigates if looking at displacement only, this one will be close to that of an kortenaer or an perry)

I could comment some more, but as most stuff will be changed/moved/removed after you take a look at the above, it is no use to pick out details.

Personally I don't see why a corvette would need a VLS, period. Also bear in mind this was done before Ace posted his post.

This Is what I'd do at least from a glance to cut down on some of the bulk.

Its on top of the forward con, right behind the row of windows, the SPQ-9B. At least that is the appropriate associated radar listed on the parts sheet for the 57mm/70.

Wouldn't that put a great deal of weight on the hanger though?

1. Alright, I wanted to change the hull up anyway. I'll get to that.
2. Whats that sound? The sound of me dropping my high-speed design. I like the look of the FCS, but it doesn't suit the navy its to be a part of.
3. Will do. I just find the British/European systems better than the US, but I like the look and feel of the US weapons.
4. Oh? Like with the ESSM launcher on above the hange, wouldn't that put allot of weight on top?
5. Alright. I might try to expand on the arsenal. In fact I'll post two variants, an OPV, and a frigate.
