It seems like you guys get your militaries cut and cut and cut. I hear New Zealand doesn't even have a single fighter jet in service anymore.
That is just wrong.
For what their military does, it actually makes a certain amount of sense. Keeping a squadron of fast jets on the books isn't cheap, and due to their location, it doesn't buy them much of anything. Any major deployment where they need air support is going to be as a part of a coalition that will have air support. By not spending the money there, they can spend it on things that do add to combat ability (better training and equipment for ground forces, actually being able to deploy ships to the Polynesian states, ect.) and make them valuable partners in a coalition - and this in tern buys them geopolitical capital.
