Sounds good. Only time will tell if I actually have the free time to get it done, though. ;)

Sounds a good idea, but IMHO minimum data should be required, such as name, nationality and type of system, be it a radar, a gun mounting or a derrick-post. Years in service might be useful.

Alright, so long as everyone agrees on the goals of this project, I'm good to move forward with it. There are NO PROMISES that this will get done though! I am in the extremely stressful process of choosing between job offers at the moment and I am also very busy finishing school.

I'd like to hear input from Tim and Ace, though, who have been surprisingly silent in this thread.

Sorry, I was sleeping when you brought it up in the chat, and replying just kept dripping to the bottom of my list of things to do.

I'm for giving the idea a shot. We'll have to work out a standardized format for parts though, but that's just a matter of sitting down and hashing one out.

Good deal. I'm a bit busy today but any ideas can be posted here, no need to confine them to the IRC. ;)

I was silent here just because I said most useful things in the IRC :P as you are not online over there, I will say something here now haha
I talked to an informatics(don't know if it translates like that, informatica in dutch) student and told him what we were going to do, it would work in PHP right?

he has studied PHP for his education (and some other web programming languages as well) and when I told him the plans, he said it was possible, not that hard, and even offered to help a bit. so, if you need a hand colosseum......

That would be nice. I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have in the future so any assistance would be most welcome. Put him in touch with me either via this forum or my email address (ibroberts@gmail.com).

While we are at it, could this method be used in submission of new ship drawings as well? The old "uploading session" is hardly the best way to put images on the mainsite.
