The color in the drawing doesn't match that in the picture, its too bright. (referring to the initial drawing, not the AU variant) Window color still seems a bit off as well.

Yes, a bright greenish blue color or orange is more typical of these machines, though, so it's not an exact match to the picture.

As to the windows I used the eyedropper on a certified and uploaded ship - perhaps it is an optical illusion caused by the garish blue adjacent.

Zep, those stuff come in lots of different colors, it can be painted in Camo if you like :)

If you want to make proper details, make the ship in FD scale. That really will put the vessel into perspective.
