HMS Effingham was re-armed in the late 1930's, using the 6" guns from "C" class cruisers, which were re-armed as AA cruisers.
Unfortunately HMS Effingham hit a submerged rock near Bodø, Norway, on the 18/5/1940 during a transport mission and was later sunk by a torpedo from HMS Matabele.
