HMS Effingham was re-armed in the late 1930's, using the 6" guns from "C" class cruisers, which were re-armed as AA cruisers.
Unfortunately HMS Effingham hit a submerged rock near Bodø, Norway, on the 18/5/1940 during a transport mission and was later sunk by a torpedo from HMS Matabele.

Nice! She looks sorta like a mini-Queen Elizabeth, what with the bridge structure and the funnel. :)

Re: HMS Effingham 1940 - what is that float plane? It looks
like a Fairey III.

PLlane is Fairey Seafox.
THX all for the positive feedback.
Next in class is HMS Vindictive (it may take a while)

Great to see the Effingham; and I prefer the single funnel type as being more elegant, and all those 6-in mounts, I counted 9 ! I can't wait to see the Vindictive :)
