I was tempted by FD scale since a while and Regia Marina's armoured trains are a suitable selection.

Here is the first one. Several others will follows soon.

Combining my two great loves. Trains and drawing. I am impressed!

Here is a third type.

[ img ]

Basically the trains were used since end of 1800 to carry guns and other weapons.
During WW1 special trains were built in order to carry medium to large naval guns by France, Germany, Italy, ...
Moreover Italian Navy take care to setup mobile coastal defense convoys during ww1 and maintened active these trains for all ww2, when 12 convoys were used. Moreover one train with Flak was given from Hitler as "personal" present to Mussolini.

To Gollevainen: what do you think to draw the Russian and the Finnish (russian train captured by finnish partisan)???

Finnish Partisans?? I cant recall us ever even using that word from other than Russian irregulars during WWII. Do you mean the civil war white guards capturing an armoured train from the reds?
Well i don't know good references for them at the moment

searching for pictures of "armoured trains" I found this

http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/TRAINS1.htm

I was able to type "armoured train" on cyrillic and searching for picture: there are several infos about russian trains but are written in cyrillic...
