These ships and immense logistic effort to design, build, equip modify let alone to supply the personnel with suitable training to man then supply them with fuel, food and ammunition during the war years is a feat many people just have no feel for these days.

Any plans to do the post-war versions with the tripod foremast?

It's a small deckhouse with a Mark 51 director above it, directing the amidships 40mm Bofors. At this point the USN deemed AAW a bigger priority for DDs than anti-surface warfare, which could be handled by the copious amount of cruisers, battleships, and carrier-based aircraft then in service.
Thanks, and I agree with how no one really understands the scale of the war effort. Seeing Task Force 38 at Ulithi, even in black and white, is a truly impressive sight.
Not particularly, if someone wants to do DDE conversions they are more than welcome but I am more interested in fleshing out the USN of World War II than the post-war ships. You guys might think that all they changed was the addition of a "tripod foremast", but in my experience (and from investigating the post-war refits) I've found that I more often than not end up tearing down the entire superstructure above the hull to make sure everything's in the right place. Gun tubs move, aerials are switched around, bulwarks removed, etc and it all will affect the accuracy of the drawing if these things are not produced correctly down to the pixel. Therefore I choose not to bother most of the time -- I set a goal, such as "do the wartime ships and their refits" and leave it at that.

As always, my offer stands to provide Photoshop PSD working files with layers or stripped-down PNGs for conversion work, though not a single person who has said they're going to draw a derivative has taken me up on this... :/

Okay, well that leaves 1 DD for me not to do, Colo, the Johnston was a Seattle-Tacoma Shipyards build, and I call dibs on the rest of them. If that's okay.

Erm, OK, I'm not sure what you're asking here -- did I miss one of the countless worklist threads that listed all Seattle-Tacoma built ships as yours?? Barring some unusual camouflage schemes and strange conversions (USS Pringle catapult-equipped DD comes to mind) I am just about finished with the Fletcher class, so I guess you are free to draw any individual ships you want.
I am working on the Sumner and Gearing wartime ships right now. If I do any post-war refits they will come after I finish those.
