This afternoon I made this small unit.
I made first the Italian version of the Austro-Hungarian KuK Saida, renamed Venezia after ww1.
It is part of the class Helgoland composed by Helgoland, Novara and Saida, originally built for KuK Marine and after ww1 transferred to Italian Navy (Helgoland renamed R.E. Brindisi & Saida renamed R.E. Venezia) and to French Marine (Novara renamed Thionville)
A couple of technical notes: KuK Marine classification was Rapidkreuzer which could be translated as "fast cruiser" while later Italian Navy classification changed into Esploratore which sounds like "scout cruiser" classification adopted by Royal Navy. French Marine class was Croiseur leger which means just light cruiser.
Which shortcut should I use in order to fullfill SB standards?

About hull color: I had a long discussion with an (old) expert of old ships and he said that KuK Marine never had green hulls.
So I followed his hints using darker grey for the underwater part. Any comment about?

PS: KuK and French versions will come soon.

The hull color looks fine; there is no specific rule that it has to be red but these new colors look nice, and if they're appropriate for the ship, then all the better.

Just don't start drawing them in pinks and purples!

I'm making it my new mission to find historical references to tye-dye-appropriate anti-fouling paints.

Here are the SMS Helgoland class (Helgoland, Novara and Saida) classified as CL "converting" Rapidkreuzer into fast and so light cruiser.

[ img ]

Thionville (ex SMS Novara) was a CL - No info about hull color so I left the Austro-Hungarian one (please Novice tell me if OK)

[ img ]

Venezia (ex SMS Saida) & Brindisi (ex SMS Helgoland) were re-painted after the incorporation into the Italian Navy said my "consultant": I follow his hints because his father was officer on-board Venezia.
