I like this, truly. Regards gun layout et al, you should look at some of the French vessels of the period to get an idea--they were very influenced by the idea of ramming; often their vessels used a "lozenge" layout of a single heavy gun forward, two heavy singles on the sides, and a single aft. This was designed to concentrate as many heavy guns firing forward as possible, 3 vs two of a typical RN design, but at the cost of one less able to fire broadside. Also, the French had some very pronounced rams forward....
