The scout and catapult seemed to small... You can always move them to the stern and use that space for other stuff.

EDIT: newer version below

Guys, here's my latest WIP. I'm a total newbie when it comes to rigging, so I'd appreciate it if anyone with sharp eyes for this stuff could point out any glaring eyesores. I've been staring at my books and it looks okay to me, but I'd love some opinions.

Not bad, however there's still room for improvement.
  • You're missing the black waterline
  • Sailing ships have straight keels. They can be horizontal or sloping from the bow and down the the stern (Also known as the heel) The curve you've drawn now would indicate that the keel is sagging or maybe even broken.
  • The yards and the shrouds don't line up. If you want to show the yards on the starboard side then they have to be on the outside of the shrouds.
  • The bow is very blunt for a ship from the 1840ies.
  • By this time the ornamental bow had pretty much disappeared, especially on vessels like this.

Thanks for taking the time to point those out mate. I've tried to fix as much as I could.

EDIT: back in dry-dock.

Here's an example of a slightly later ship that shows how the bow is constructed.

Note how the foremast touches the keel aft of where the keel bends up to form the bow.

I'm moving to Personal Designs; its pretty obvious that you're progressing, plus your good work in FD scale; the only thing I'd advise is to avoid having too many designs on the one topic :)
