Well, the poms need cheering up :lol:

What intrigues me is when the RAN becomes larger than the RN :shock:

So, not 36 JSF's...no, just 12 :o

Nimrod cancelled. Which makes me ask: does the U.K. still have any means of maritime reconnaisance?

Other than a couple of Islanders/Deffenders I don't think so. And it's not as if they have any ASW kit on them either.

The BBC is on in the background. Story of Cameron (our P.M.) visiting a Harrier base to tell the poor saps that they are going to be scrapped (planes and pilots). In the background a Harrier pilot named Ward gives him a 'peice of his mind'; it turns out he's the son of 'Sharkey' Ward of Falklands fame; so next on comes Sharkey himself; and he points out that the Harrier is good until 2025, and scapping it doesn't make sense. Now I'm hearing that the latest Nimrod has been paid for in terms of development, but hey ho, never mind, lets scrap it anyway.

Well, lets just hope that from now on our enemy is still a bunch of Afghanistan tribesmen; because if it isn't...er, the Russians maybe? Then we are up shit creek without a paddle :cry:

Omg the AMERICAN'S ARE SCARED FOR FISHING BOATS!

Yes USS stout had entered 6 fishing vessel's, 2 small boats that go max 6 knots.
And a dutch naval vessel.

Why?
They came inside a 500m area, IN DUTCH WATER'S.

Pussy's.
Since when can a 6knot boat ram into a Arleigh burke class and do the same as to uss cole.

The dutch way:
Telling them to fock off, or we will open live fire.
And they just run off!
This guy is quite clearly the best poster we've ever had on here. Bar none.

The loss of he Nimrods is quite worrying as it does put the security of the deterrent at risk. I'm also a bit mixed on the rapid retirement of the ASTORs post Afghanistan, as they represent a unique capability that is only matched by JSTARS.

So far i can find in ''The Strategic Defence
and Security Review'' it would come to this:

Future Royal Navy
• 1 Aircraft Carrier *
• 6 Destroyers Type 45
• 13 Frigates Type 26**
• 7 Astute class SSNs
• 14 mine counter measure vessels**
• 1 Global Oceanographic survey and ice patrol vessel
• 2-4 Combat Support Ships

* HMS Queen Elisabeth will be kept at extended readiness will be a STOVL carrier for helicopters and/or F-35B. The HMS Prince of Wales will be the active conventional carrier with F-35C.

** Flexible layouts for Multi-role ships
Type 26-> Anti surface/Anti Submarine/Multi purpose layouts
MCM -> Hydrographic and offshore patrol duty’s

the plan is also to keep up the trident missile,but the Nimrod MRA4 project will be canceled
and to withdraw the Sentinel airborne ground surveillance aircraft once it is no longer required to support operations in Afghanistan. Buying less JSF F-35 or even none F-35A but the more capable F-35C

We will accordingly:
• decommission HMS Ark Royal immediately;
• reduce by four the number of frigates;
• place at extended readiness a landing and command ship. Either HMS Ocean or HMS Illustrious will be decommissioned following a short study of which provides the most effective helicopter platform capability. A Bay-class amphibious support ship will be decommissioned.

as on my idea: this plan is going to s*ck so hard for the brits!
