Hnh. Ok, I can do that replacement.

Now, a question... I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this... about when did the "Kryten" turrets for the 4.5" come into use? I was thinking about using them for the Group 2 cruisers, or at least some of the later ones, depending on when it started being used.

By Kryten I presume you're referring to the 4.5in Mark 8 Mod 1. HMS Norfol was the first ship to receive one in 2001.

at the end is an 'strikedown module' I am puzzled what exactly that is....
also, over there are the plenum vents, but I think those can be routed elsewhere.

I'm sorry, but I do not understand any of what you just said, that I have highlighted.

I am looking more ignorant by the minute, it seems.

uh-huh. I was kinda thinking it could be helpful if I knew though, since I'm drawing this thing. ;)

The Strikedown module is the stuff (cranes, support arms, other gear) that is used for reloading the magazine. The plenum vents are the exhaust vents for hot gasses coming out of the magazine. As for the helipad location, I'm still trying to confirm one way or the other.

Late to this, so hopefully I'm not repeating anything already said.

As a quick rule of thumb, the Length/Depth ratio should not exceed 13-14, which this ship seems to do. You can go over that, but it will increase the structural weight and cost. I also wonder what's going on with the skeg aft, and the appendages (rudder and bilge keels) seem a little odd.

A general note on those phased arrays is that you need to be careful what is around them. I Wonder about having something like Phalanx - which has electronics and munitions in it - so close to the arrays. They radiate a lot of power. On the Arleigh Burkes, the ESM and Phalanx are tucked neatly in the longer gaps.

Another issue related to having four arrays on a single deckhouse forward is what to do about the view aft. Again, the AB class are a good reference here as the superstructure aft is very clean, flat and tapers towards the stern reducing interference with the radar. Of course we don't have a top view here but that lattice mast aft might be problematic, depending how wide the superstructure is forward.

Wide enough to avoid being problematic. ;)

Not trying to be a smart aleck, really, but honestly, I had a lifetimes worth of the "SPY-1 shellgame" with the St Edward class I did earlier where it appeared that no matter where they were located it was the wrong place and something would interfere. I'm almost of the opinion now that the only perfect ideal location is to have the 4 arrays mounted on the bow, the stern and port and starboard midships, then squeeze eveything else in between.
