'Trunnion' is the pin, for lack of a better word, about which the entire gun assembly elevates and depresses. Because it is not at the breech, any concern for overhead clearance during elevation makes no sense.

I'm not sure why we're even talking about the cylinders above the barrel proper, but I believe you are correct.

The only guns in history to have trunnions at the breach are mortars and even among those it's rare.
The cylinders are part of the hydraulic recoil dampers. If you're interested in classic naval guns I recommend buying "Naval Gun" by Ian V. Hogg and John Batchelor.

Thank you Erik_t and Thiel. When I build models I do not have to deal with the turret interiors often! Perhaps my use of 20inch quad mount was over ambitious, so I have now bumped down the caliber and removed CIWS. this should work now.

Here you go, 16.5 caliber, because I like to stand out. After all, Long barreled 16 guns still posses stunning power! All while saving weight and space.

You say that as if you don't expect a 16.5-inch, 70-caliber rifle would potentially be the most powerful gun ever put to sea and likely require a panamax hull even with a 9-barrel count.

Btw, please shift to an exterior picture host like photobucket, majhost, dropbox etc.
There isn't much place set aside for attachments on the server and we'd rather it was used for real ships.

Anyway, about the gun.
The gun itself looks perfectly workable to me, but I doubt the on mount radars will survive for long. The blast from a 16in gun was enourmous and had a tendency to trash unprotected equipment.

So long as it's a sensibly-designed antenna, on-mount radar makes plenty of sense. Mk 27 was mounted on several main-battery turrets of reconstructed US BBs in WW2.

CWIS will be placed in areas 100 feet from barrel reach as a limit. The spacing between A and B turret will be tightened to provide more room for missiles. As for radar on the guns, they are of sturdy construction, the main aiming radar for the gunst are positioned on high places of superstructures and aided by satellite correction.

SPY-1 type radars re-arranged and superstructure further armored and enlarged. This should make a little more sense.
