Which "gun" are you referring to and how did you come up with "2 degrees of elevation." The cannons have approximately 55 degrees of elevation based of of this principle, ROOF SLOT ELEVATION SPACE!

That will be when the bizarre object on top of the gun hits the turret roof - I was assuming that the designers would not want to cut out 4( :!: ) 12 foot wide slots in the roof! (At that point you begin to think what's the use of a turret? :| ) But with that magazine arrangement I shouldn't have doubted!

The standard export version of the goalkeeper 1 can be augmented to fix in "box" type emplacements to save space on ship, similar to versions of PHALANX. The only components on the individual system that need under space include ammunition and mechanical equipment. In this design all CWIS control is centralized within the command of the central AEGIS type command. If need be, the under portion also contains an individual computer control module. I am VERY sure this would work! :!:

you could only fit the GK in/on that turret if there were no guns in there. you need an substantial magazine, reload room and cooling space.

phalanx, on the contrary, would fit: that is an bolt-on system. the shockwave of firing the guns would catapult it off though.

Ok, that made no sense whatsoever in that the gun will be elevating in the opposite direction of the turret roof. That "Thing" that you are referring to is the hydraulic recoil system that dampens the recoil in order to prevent damage to the ship if it were to simply shoot back. As for the magazine, I should expect such an insult from a trash ship builder, or would you prefer any instance of a fire within a turret to fall down into the magazine an cause a horrific explosion as the British experienced a Jutland. I prefer to have the option to keep my explosives safe.

As for the 12 foot openings, I do believe you are mocking the 15 inch gun designs found on HMS Vanguard, they had a similar design and that "hole" was protected by slot armor directly attached to the chassis of the cannon.

Yes - and will bump into the roof when it is elevating unless there is a huge slot. Note that there were only two relatively baby guns without massive (and wide) recoil tubes on Vanguard.

Putting the magazine like this will make your ship (and armor belt) much longer than it should be. The longer armor belt will necessarily be thinner.

What will the vibration from 20" guns do to modern electronics? Never mind the shockwave that everybody is talking about. Extrapolation from the 16" guns on the Iowa refits may provide a clue...

Uhm..... you know elevation and depression aren't the same thing, right? And that trunnions generally aren't located at the breech?

I believe they are on the Iowas 16 guns. I know for sure they are on the South Dakota.

then would you please explain to me what exactly the cylinders mounted on the top of the guns are? From my educated guess and film of them firing, I appeared that they were a form of recoil suppression system?
