This one perhaps, although I don't think it's been drawn yet.

4in? The it's probably the same gun as was used on the Eagle class patrol boats

You're right, that's the one.

fixed but I think my original would have been a better design there is not much room on the 200' ship very few depth charges and not much room for working at the guns. I think a 300' would be better.
Uh, 300' would be longer than the early DE's. A rather different type of ship.

It would undoubtedly have been more capable, but on the other hand you wouldn't be able to build them in large numbers which kinda defeats the purpose of a sub chaser.

Exactly. It's like saying Atlanta was a better 5/38+TT combatant than a Fletcher.

Well, yeah.

here is a new gun. I understand about the length. of the ship. I guess I just think with so few depth charges what use could the ship realy be.

It could force the submarine to dive and then stick around until more help arrives. It may not kill the submarine, in fact it's likely that it won't, but neither will the submarine sink any merchants and that's what's important.
When dealing with escorts it doesn't matter how many enemies they've sunk. The only thing that matters is how many of their charges have they lost. The SC-497 class submarine chaser of WWII is a good example. 438 units built and not a single kill of any kind between them, yet they were considered a success.
