Yeah, first thing you guys should always do is to check the archive (since the software doesent allow us to hotlink to it from the actuall site, it can be accessed wiftly from my signature and by just typing www.shipbucket.com at your browser)
What comes to Nürnberg, its an old drawing, Thougth I have a bit polished AU version of it (or actually from her Admiral Makarov days), which I propably try to
post at somepoint after Ive launched my rewamped AU programs. The drawing is "accurate" but quite obsolete in what comes to the style and the equipments.

Most of my older Kriegsmarine drawings are in need of rehauling, but like with all my work, I reserve the rigth to do it to myself. Currently Im redoing the Novik and her cousins, and perhaps the Sverldovs (I plan to redo all my soviet majors this year)... Some of the ships (like the panzerschiffes and the Hippers) I could delegate into others (established good artist though) but Nürnberg is one of those personal little favorites of mine, that I will keep working myself.

I think I grok you Lord Malachi, at least in the sentiments you are expressing. As I mentioned before this is a dedicated forum for drawing ships in SB scale and standard: essentially 'real life' or 'never built'; and as such it cohabits the same intellectual space as Warship Projects 3.0 and other forums of a 'similar kydney'. I have no idea what PMG is, but here conforming to a set standard is considered a prerequisite; so using standard parts is not seen as a failing, rather as a interest in getting the drawing right. The real work and pleasure is in the research that gives the finished drawing the look of authenticity; I can spend seconds selecting a particular item from a parts list or another drawing, but then spend hours researching where it goes in relation to the real ship. No doubt we'll be intersted in what you will produce; if its in shipbucket style it can remain here, if not then there is a lively sub forum for 'non shipbucket drawings'. May your sails be filled

Well, think of me as living in the AU subforum then while I'm here. Like I said, I'll stick to SB standards but the ships will be my own. Like these guns I modified last night from the parts sheet.

Lol after looking at the steampunk thread yesterday I know for sure that not everything here meets reality, just the same artistic standard.

After I'm done modifying all the parts I want to use in my next build (I'm leaving the Nuernberg for Golly and trying something on my own) should I post them in here asking questions? Or in the parts subforum? I'll mostly be asking if they all 'fit' together, if I've lowered the workability of the designs too much, and just get a general feeling for what others think of them.

My advice is to leave the parts subforum for items that will find their way onto the parts sheets, and that excludes AU/Own Designs. For now you're in 'beginners', which is fine, and by the looks of it you'll soon graduate. But If you (then) post in AU, then we're assuming that there will be a back story (e.g. Kingdom of Gargantua, where monster Battleships live , sorry ), but if your interest is in working on your own designs, then you can just beaver away in that section.

Sounds good When I get to that point I'll actually write up the backstory for New Britannia.
