As a learning tool is exactly what I meant
I'm not going to learn how to accurately make things by copy and pasting your guys' work
I've noticed a distinct lack of German parts though, at least in the forums threads, the actual archive may have more. But I'm trying very hard to not use them. I'm using shipbucket to learn how to design ships, not to fill an archive. And while using the parts is great for archiving, it's not so great for learning. Making them on my own, using your parts as references, helps me understand why they are the way they are. Their shape, size, positioning, etc. That helps me make my own versions of my own design later that feel real. I don't want to fill my ships with real world directors and radars, I want to fill them with 'my' directors and radars. The only exception is if I'm recreating a real world ship, but even then I'd feel better if it was all me. I get looked down on every so often on the PMG forum because I will refuse to use another person's part, even if it looks better than mine, just to save my personal opinion of my work. But if I don't enjoy what my work has become, then why should I do it at all? Outside of exact recreations, I might use the parts from here and modify them to my own tastes, but that's the most I'd settle for.
Shipbucket is a stepping stone for me, you are all very knowledgeable and I could learn a ton from you guys, which is what I plan to do, but I'll use what I learn elsewhere eventually. As you said in the other thread, I'm a good artist. I'm just... being considerate I suppose, and using your medium while I'm here learning from you.
