As we say in Norway: "If you want buy a regular boat with extra luxury, but not fully as good seakeeping, buy Swedish! If you want a boat you can take on all seas, buy Norwegian!"

Well - this is the main problem with springsharp, i overestimates the power needed to run DDs around 35kts - which in fact they did. If I reduce the speed to 28kts - she has a seakeeping of 1.10 or when I make with 48000 shp as the Halland had she makes 32+kts. Hallan mad 35kts + with 48000shp (some say even 42kts with no limits on the machinery and boilers!!)

The springsharp calculates the seakeeping at top speed, which is a very poor tool to measure seakeeping. Al captains reduce speed in heavy weather -even HMS Vanguards I think.

With 48000shp and composite hullstrength of 1.0, I think this is more plausable design.

I have to admit: I've never used springsharp! I tried it, but, I think I just failed, so am calculating everything the good ol' fashion, with my brain! (Not that that is infalliable in any sense!)

Ok...springsharp is good - when making batleships and cruisers. It has some problems calculation light/ fast combatants. It can't calculate submarines, carriers or modern warships especially well either. But there are some rules for who make carriers and submarines aswell. Ships with volume rather than weight based weapons are hard.

I started with Springsharp long before I started drawing ships. I started to draw ships because I wanted to visualize my designs - It was so I started my webpage aswell - and that I wanted to tease the kids not knownig swedish naval history. A couple of years ago I saw some kid asking about the swedish carriers in a forum - I am still quite pleased with that :-D.

Springsharp or not. You could draw subs anyway. Every first rate navy need some Damned un-English weapons in their toolbox.

Well I've lately been thinking about subs - but I have no experience drawing subs. It do also hurt my gentleman gene....

The heavy cruiser Finland is Swedens response to the Washington Treaty. They ships replaced the Valkyria type armored cruiser as flagships on various colonial naval stations, especially in the pacific. The ships are carrying names of the diffrent parts of Sweden (Finland = eastern Sweden, Swea = middle of Sweden, Giötha Gothia- South Westerna part of Sweden, Wende - Scandia and northen German Provinces)

A tad too early building date, don't you think? Especially for this modern looking type of cruisers. Mind you, the Washington-treaty was bring negotiated at that time, and most navies, in fact, contemplated retaining their armored cruisers, albeit rebuilding them. A year of launch/completion around 1927/29 is far more realistic in my opinion.

The best looking ship so far. Splendid.

And a ww2 version planned?
