Well, we were likely fighting for our existence in WWII- though it was somewhat preemptive, as Germany and Japan would have needed decades to rebuild to the point that they could have challenged an 'awakened' US post-WWII.

I found my USS Guam, stripped of credits, on The Blueprints.
