The actuall colors in the drawings should be as presentative as possible of the true colors in real life. Naturally what our computer screens presents migth not always look similar what is supposed to look. Rowdy's take on the color looks more to my eye what the RAN ships looks.
Naturally, all rules about shading are still intact.

The purpose of the color pallette in the equipment sheet has never been to set into stone what colors can be used, merely they have been what colors had been used up to that point given in for use... It would be nice if someone with proper equipments, make pallettes out of most used colors in world navies.

This might help:

From what I've seen above, the 'right' colour doesn't look right in SB scale, maybe because of the limit in size, or just MS Paint not being able to replicate it. From the topic above it does seem that the N42/N63 has been around for some time, so I'm happy to apply to all my postwar drawings and (in time) update onto current templates. I'll definately apply to all new drawings. However, we have to agree on a colour, but my suggetsion is to go toward a lighter version. :)
