CL-40 USS Brooklyn

Darth Panda drew the Nashville a while back but his drawing was scaled incorrectly. This is Brooklyn in her pre-war configuration.

I got Friedman's US Cruisers for Christmas so it was only a matter of time.

Measure 32/21D scheme in 1944, this is the ship as it appeared with Gen. MacArthur onboard before Leyte Gulf. By the end of the war, the surviving Brooklyns had their bridges reduced to reflect war experience. More light AA has been added. It's also interesting to note that the ranging radar on the main battery Mk.34 directors is different fore and aft. This is not an error; several photos of the Nashville have confirmed it. I'm not sure why this is the case.

Camouflage is Measure 32 design 21D, a 5-L Light Gray base with 5-O Ocean Gray splinters.

Have to thank DarthPanda here, his drawing of the oversized Brooklyn helped me decipher what was going on with the bridge superstructure. This is the late-war style that was then sold to the South Americans, so if anyone wants a slimmed down version (no camo, railing, rigging, etc), just ask. That way conversion to Belgrano or Capitan Prat won't be very difficult.

Some of your drawings was the first I saw when I was introduced to Shipbucket, and they impressed me. Glad to see you make a ship drawing again, and it's awesome

A fine book, but rather inferior to Destroyers in my opinion.

The drawing, of course, is up to your usual standard.

Destroyers is good? I've been eyeballing it on Amazon but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

I got US Cruisers and US Battleships for Christmas, and it makes me rather angry that I haven't had these books my whole life.

Once I'm rolling in the doe again I intend to get Freidmans British Cruisers of World War II, as well as his British Destroyers.

Colo, how nice to see you back in action! And lemme say your Brooklyn is spot on! Love it, really is doing justice to the ship and class! As for Friedman I've got all publications in the series, from battleships to small combatants. I bought the
first one shortly after publication, I believe, in 1983 and spent the next 7 years to finish the collection. I'll take these books, together with Raven and Burts to my grave...

I might do some of the WWII American refits but I'm not really interested in the Argentinian ships, just make sure you do a good job.
