While I agree that you should not be able to 'reserve' an indefinite amount of ships, I think there should be polite respect for what people may be gathering reference material for, or in the middle of drawing.

Personally, I can take months to complete a drawing and have periods where I am too busy to draw or check the forums. If this happened to me I'd be quite pissed off!

That's what it is about - most usually - the reference and source material gathering; that why I have the RN Victorian and Edwardian cruisers for instance or some Russian cruisers etc. I am keenly interested in precisely these vessels and have, over the years built up a rather comprehensive reference library on those. And I know there are others with the same ambition and goal here, so, yes it's a fair deal to let these people have a shot at these.

Good topic Jabba, and yes, lets clear the air a bit. So yes, I have a work list, but I'm always happy to give way when a ship I have is not moving on: e.g. the Essex project. And the suggestion was made to get the worklists more easily accessible? That said it is always a good idea to check first when we know a ship we want to draw is still on someones list, but hasn't yet appeared - we're all not as gifted as Alvama in getting drawings completed so quickly.

It does make sense to have a stickied topic thats easily found.I don't do a worklist as such but put in my signature what I'm currently working on which is updated regularly.

Perhaps things would be better if we had Work Lists and Wish Lists.
A Work List could be the next five or so drawings you have planned and are actively drawing and researching.
A Wish List could be those ships you'd love to draw if you had the time and research to do so. As ships come off the Work List you'd get arond to transferring the Wishes to Work and everyone would be a bit clearer as to whether the ship listed is actively being worked on or just lying idle.

I think anyone with more than twenty ships in mind is perhaps looking more at wish list purely because of the time it would take to draw that many. Someone else might have the time to do a ship, and perhaps others are put off becuase so much is reserved when it might take another year to get to the end of the worklists we currently have.

I second Hood. As Bombhead also wrote, I had my current projects in my signature too, and except for the CoA's maximum five ships. The concern must be to the bucketeers to draw real ships, so we have to give each other free space. The idea of divided list with few ships (maybe five?) as work list and a bunch of ships you would like to do (wish list) sound as a very fair idea

The way I see it there's four problems with having your work/wish list in your signature. Personally I realize this doesn't mean it hasn't been claimed, but not everyone does.
1) The search engine can't find it. For me the first step when I decide to draw something is to search the forum and see if anyone is drawing it.
2) Not everyone has signatures enabled. Personally I have it turned off on my phone so I don't have to waste bandwidth downloading some guys inane .gif file.
3) It's hard to see if anything has changed. Since it's impossible to maintain a change log you have to read every single signature to make sure. It also means that in case of a disagreement it's impossible to tell who "claimed" the drawing first.
4) Infrequent posters will drop off the grid. If someone only posts infrequently his/her worklist would be hard to find.

Sorry I hadn't been clear. To have it in my signature doesn't mean I didn't have a regular worklist (look in the Worklist Registry!). I have it both places. You can call it service But I'll reckon the main issue is how do we prevent the real ship drawing to be blocked because of very long work list's?
