And yet again this is becoming another famous APDAF design. Start on the major things, such as deck layout, the general shape and look of things. Did you read the comments and suggestions or look at the illustration? I think not. Here is what you have done:
~added 2 more lifeboats
~added railings, scuppers, anchors, a central island, and more windows
What still needs doing:
~change funnels to a more merchant looking shape
~deboxify the bridge
~that forward crane really should be moved back and another put in front of it
~remove windows from the superstructure (almost all of them need to go)
~fix the weird curve you have on the stern island, it makes no sense on a vessel of this type
Now, look at what has been done, and what needs to be done. The second list contains things more important than those on the first. Actually do something to make this work. Once again, look in the Merchant Ships thread in real designs, what you are looking for amy not be on the first page, but then keep going throught until you find some ships from this era.

My one and only suggestion to you APDAF, is this: First get a Real Life ship and draw it. Then take another and draw it. And then again and again. Do something like 10 real ships, before attempting to make an Own Design. After you have several real ships you might have, or not, a feelling for what is right in a ship, what goes and where. Then and only then you can make an own design which will l ook good and real.

*ahem*

ADPAF, I highly suggest that you draw a real ship before proceeding with a fictional design. In fact you might want to try a few real ships.

Here is a suggested list of vessels that would fill in gaps in the current archive. I also suggest you try drawing a few merchant, passenger or other commercial vessels, of which countless ones are available.

I also suggest drawing smaller, river vessels - it might be a more appropriate introduction for you. I started drawing the MV Franklin which is a small survey vessel but other projects and priorities interfered; however I think it would be a great project for you to finish. I'll upload what I have so far which I think would be a good base. If you would rather start from scratch, the same drawings I used are in the link, just resize to match mine.

I have looked at the illustration.

The reason that the bridge is boxy is that it is pre-fabricated. (Think of modern shipbuilding)

The curve on the stern is a mess up.

Many if not most of the ships in the merchant thread are pre-fab construction. Pre-fab construction doesn't mean it's restricted to building-block construction.

Once again, I think it would be most beneficial if you draw real ships for the time being. The disparity of quality between your drawings and the fictional ships of other people, even when ignoring what looks right for a ship and just from a pixel-art perspective, doesn't seem to be sinking in.

APDAF, your last comment is sheer baloney, and only reveal how ignorant you are about nautical history! At the timeframe your ship is supposed to be depicted, and I'm inferring this from its various design clues - prefabrication didn't exist the way you claim. The Germans were in fact the first to utilize a kind of prefabricated system for their battle ships and -cruisers in the expanded Naval Law of 1908, but that's a naval matter; not a civilian one...

It's not so much boloney just rationalizing why he's done what he has done and why it is better despite what more knowledgeable people have interjected into the discussion.

Haha...i know what you're saying, Blackbuck, but that's what I call baloney, that kind of irrelevant rationalization expecting knowledgeable and experienced members here to actually buy it! But, it's leading nowhere so I'm outahere! There's sad to say no point in trying anymore...

She's coming along. I think this is your best effort yet. What about a mast? Maybe you could merge the two funnels into one.

The Hog Island ships had at least some elements of pre-fabrication as did the Eagle Boats that were recently drawn but the fact of the matter is that APDAF would do good to consider my advice.
