Bill great as always ther only improvement is a revised LWO2 rada, r I found this on a AU version of the Canadian Tribal Class DDH forget who did it but he got the Radar spot on. For a small period in the late 1970s she had a LWO6 but it fell off some where between Aust and NZ and they put the LWO2 back on

Cheers mate :D

I'll be glad to change the radar. I've settled for the 1969 version, about the time she sank the USS Frank E Evans (in fairness to the cousins, she also sank HMAS Voyager at an earlier date). I'll do the Sydney as the Vung Tau Ferry; and of course I have to consider the Melbourne as commisoned with Sea Venoms and Gannets; but I may need some help with that one, as source material is scant.

Here is the updated version;

Cheers Sherrif :)

That would look great on the final version, when I reckon the camo was being applied; but I won't be doing that yet; first I want to tackle the earlier when she shipped Venom's and Gannet's.

One question.
HMAS sydney and melbourne are from one class.
Why is their lengt,height of the hull so different?

Sydney was a straight-up Majestic-Class, while Melbourne was heavily modified in the late 60s in order to be able to operate more modern planes. Apart from more modern electronics and communication apparatus aswell as other things, she also had her hull and flight deck reworked.

If only :(

The fact is (I'm afraid) Mitch is correct; at least in regard to the hull length. I made the mistake of working from seperate drawings on both ships; instead, I should have reworked the base Sydney with the changes of the Melbourne; though, for some reason the hull appeared slightly higher out of the water. What I'll do is begin with the Sydney and 'reverse engineer' the Melbourne onto that drawing.

Now you know why real life drawings are so much 'fun' - with AU and own designs you can always fudge, but not here ;)

Great work Bill. Shame about the base differences but getting those pixels right is hell. I guess ten people could draw the same ship and none of them would be identical.

That's one thing that makes Shipbucket special, talent and drawing skills plays a bigger part than some folks think it does.

A good point. Bearing in mind we are working from drawings; and how often are they totally accurate? Given a choice between a drawing and a photograph (suitably detailed) I will go for the photograph. Still, there is no way the two could have different length hulls; I'm working now to get all the Melbourne details onto the Sydney hull, which I'm taking as the base for all these various types.

I've made a start on the Vikrant: yes, Seahawks and Alizes :D Then the ski-jump with harrier :D :D

Final version. Some changes, mostly to agree a common hull length with the Sydney.
