Most likely white, with big red crosses on it.

Ah, well, you see, this was a ploy to get the ship past the bean counters. True, she could have been converted 'in extremis', but that would have involved annoying Madge - not a good idea

In order to avoid any confusion, as to whose on board, I've removed the Royal Standards, leaving only the rear-admiral's flag and White Ensign.
This is backed by a picture I have, that shows HMY Britania with said flags.
As to the ships role as a hospital ship, that was indeed a ploy to get her approved but, was used as an evacuation ship in 1986 , when a civil war in Southern Yemen broke out (Operation Balsac). The ship used the State Apartments as make-shift dormitories for the evcuated civilians, all in all around 1,000 people were evacuated in a 6 days operation.

Awww...that's a pity, though. I honestly think this configuration would look terrific: Union Jack as a jack; Admiralty Flag ('Anchor' flag) on the foretop; H.M. Queen's Standard on the main and the Great Union (Union Jack) on the Mizzen (alternatively with a Full Admiral's flag!)

@ Novice, I fully back up Bezo's suggestion. I really liked the first drawing with all the flags, and if I remember correct it was only one flag you have to change to have it in the suggested proposal ;)

That's a nice present Novice. No Grey funnel though!
Nice to see perhaps the most famous Royal ship of modern times in SB form.
