Excellent work, I'd like some forum members would develop a work of two ferries that bring me back many memories, the Barfleur, linking Cherbourg & Poole in England, and the recently has joined the fleet of Brittany "The Cotentin" linking Santander & Poole, England.

Thanks Atalaya but I'm trying to focus on Portsmouth ferrys for the time being. If any of the other members feel like taking this up then feel free to post in this thread. I going to start work on the older servants of Portsmouth's continental service.

The Hovercraft from Clarence Pier to Ryde. This is Tenacity, in service from 1983 - 1990.

Continuing the theme of ferries, although this time from Dover, I've started a study of the 3 ship Spirit class that started operation in 1979, taking the Dover to Calais route by storm. At 25kts, they completed the trip in less than an hour. The first ship up is the ill fated Herald of Free Enterprise. This was the second ship to be built, following the Spirit Of Free Enterprise and followed by Pride of Free Enterprise.

The Herald is infamous for capsizing after leaving Zeebbrugge, when the bow doors were not closed. 193 lives were lost and I dedicate this drawing to their memory.

That's an excellent rendition of the poor HERALD. You even captured her quirky superstructure quite well! Now that you mastered this, maybe you can try your hand at the PRIDE OF DOVER/PRIDE OF CALAIS as well? They are basically bigger versions of this class.

On the 25th "anniversary" of the tragedy last March 6th, I saw a re-run of the documentary about the salvage operation. The pictures of the inside of the capsized ferry were even more depressing with the recent capsizing of the COSTA CONCORDIA in mind.

seems like you lack about all overhang shading on the herald.... I would also like to see the 'bends' in the structure a bit better, if possible even with colour shading....
