So I guess this will become an even slimmer ship!

As for Springsharp, I use a Mac (although I used a PC, but has since broke). I've tried to run it, but it doesn't work. It would be just too great a hassle to fun Bootcamp too, so I've been stuck guesstimating everything foar about a year now.

The turrets for both versions were based off of the twin 12"/50s from the South Carolinas on the parts sheet, just enlarged to meet the triple and quad mounts. But, are the quad turrets too early? The French authorized the building of the Normandie class battleships in 1912, a year before these vessels were finalized. And the 8" guns were chosen simply as an intermediate between the light 6" secondary caliber guns and the larger heavy guns. Both of these vessels can be considered as a faster, Centennial version of the Blucher class armored cruiser.

I've already started revisions, so it will come up either later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback!

Updated. The secondary armament wasn't moved down to the main deck mainly because of the small amount of space there. But, I did extend the upper deck so that it allowed even more space for the guns. Anyway, it was eventually ridden of, being the impractical triple (4" guns) deck mounts. I'm sticking to the quad 8" mounts because I can't really see what was wrong with them. And I also worked on the underwater hull. Anything else?

The Quad idea is the only thing that bothers me besides the Heavy Cruiser 8" guns. A battlecruiser was just a basic fast battleship, Most had 12 inch guns, also look at the RN Battlecruisers, the Germans were the only ones with Triple turrets till 1915 when the USN Used Triple Turrets on the Nevada class Battleships, but those were Triple 14's and the heaviest guns on battlecruisers of the WW1 era were 13.5" so it really depends. And quads were used later, 1937.

The Winchesters aren't really battlecruisers. They're just built off of one. The New Rotterdams were built as battlecruisers, and to economically fill the lack of cruisers in the Centennial Navy, the Winchesters were built on the battlecruiser's hull, except with lighter, cruiser caliber guns. Essentially, its a cruiser killer. It is the second large cruiser in the AU timeline after the Blucher. Unless anyway, you consider the Blucher as a large cruiser.

Yeah, just noticed that...but did you get the point? The ship with the 8" guns is meant to compensate for the lack of cruisers, therefore is classified as a large cruiser, not a battlecruiser.

Well, with the holiday break finally here, I was able to get around to starting the successors to the Troy class CVs. Here it is, the Cairo class:

The third class of carriers of the Centennial Navy, the Cairo class was built in 1946 in Centennia's–and the world's–largest shipyard in Conroy. The ship was built as an enlarged, evolved version of the previous Troy class of the 30's-40's, but with lessons learned from carrier battles in the Atlantic and Pacific (To be explained eventually). The largest carriers in the world, the Cairo class was to participate in Pacific operations that would require many aircraft per raid. The ships were different from previous vessels in that they didn't have any large caliber guns. With mostly 3" and 40mm guns, the Cairo class was to be escorted by vessels carrying long range AA guns. Also, with storage available for numerous JATO rockets, a long flight deck, and 3massive deck-edge elevators, the Cairo class was given the versatility to operate modified medium bombers and transport aircraft. Essentially designed to compensate for the lack of carriers in the Centennial fleet, two of the three planned vessels were completed by 1946, with the third being cancelled.

Also introduced with the Cairo class were a series of new, upgraded weapons. Twin automatic 3"/50s were improved and placed in new gunhouses. On the same platform, in order to ensure uniform design and ease of construction, new 20mm and 40mm guns were adopted. Firing the same rounds as the Bofors and Oerlikon guns, only form belts rather than magazines. Based around the design of the French 20mm Hispano, both designs were able to fire notably faster than their respective foreign counterparts. A twin mounting was developed for the 40mm guns and a triple mounting was developed for the 20mm guns. The mounts were designed to compete with foreign vessels in terms of armament, yet take up less room than said equivalents.

Oh, and the two sextuple mounts have still to be replaced. The break is wrapping up, so I haven't gotten around to fixing it. But, I do need help placing 7 single 20mm guns around the ship as point defense and last-ditch AA guns. Any advice on where to put them? I already know three are going on the superstructure, but I still need to place 4 more in strategic locations.

I've got a couple of AU prop fighters if you wish to use them in future.

Why P-74s? The F8F offers similar performance and is specifically carrier-capable.
