@APDAF; I had hoped you had done a bit like this. I have made some changes on your "yacht" according some of the multiple advices. Not as much so you didn't reckognize your own boat, but so much, that some progress were shown. If you had done something like that, we could continue. This example is NOT a finished and complete ship! It is an example on SMALL progress. But I think it was neccessary to show you directly what changing according to advises mean ;)

You know with a change of colors, a single graceful funnel, removal or change of shape of the skylight to a more domed shape, and it would look a lot better. :)

I hope APDAF can get the point this way.

And speaking of him, a little note, with my color suggestion, white with a red finish on the underwater hull.

Yes, but unfortunately it isn't APDAF himself but me. Just to show how it could have been ;)

And, the bridge can actually be beautifully swept back, as on most 50s and 60s merchant ships... but we shall see if he bites...

Thumper would be disappointed, but aside from a cheap Disney reference, perhaps APDAF could use some references on Early-mid 20th Century Yachts of State? I know Hitler's yacht was posted here...Also, the shear size of this thing would rival or exceed anything seen in the Med or Carribean in the present day, but those massive yachts are much more pleasant to look at.

APDAF, there are still many things that need changing on the design,. It's not a simple case of letting everyone else do your work for you.
I can still see many issues that need rectifying (some of Kim's edits are not really fitting for a 1940s ship) but if you continue to ignore the help other members are giving you and just accept Kim's work as ok then really this thread is pointless.

To emphasise to all newbies on this forum this is a forum for Shipbucket Art. We are a group of artists devoted to drawing REAL LIFE and REAL PROJECT ships of all eras and types. Submarines, battleships, sloops, yachts, icebreakers, tugs etc etc. This forum is a recruitment tool for new artists and for all of us to enjoy and comment on each other's work for the principle aim of improvement. The other aim is to fill the archive with the real world ships mentioned above. All of the artists here have made great strides since their first posts (hence the Beginnings section to show what progress is possible).

This section of the forum is for newbies to show what they can do. If they show skill they move onto the other sections of the this forum site. Accepting advice from senior members is part of the learning process. Members earn gradings from the Mod team to reflect their work. Bold blue denotes a Premium Member, they know what they are doing and turn out consistent good art. You should listen to them. Gold titles denote an Elite Member, these are exceptional artists whose advice you should always heed. Green members are moderators, if they suggest a change then you'd better listen to what advice they give too. When a mod writes in bold coloured letter, especially green then great notice needs to be taken.

We accept AU work and own designs as a means to doodle and satisfy our creative intent, but such AU work is SECONDARY to the aims of this site. This is not a forum to seriously exchange and make up weird and wacky AUs. Other forums fulfill that need more than we can here. Our aim here is pure and simple, drawing of real ships in shipbucket scale. If a newbie fancies drawing their own wacky creations and making up AUs with no interest in drawing real-world ships then perhaps another site might be a better choice. Generally the best AUs are from members with good SB skills and the very best have AUs have a sound grounding in real-world basis in terms of ships and plausibility. The worst kind of AU is a kitbash fest with dubious plot lines (mega emperor versus flesh eating alien hordes excepting a rabble of bow-and-arrow armed enemies fits into the latter, Golly's Komintern and Bezo's Greek Cruisers fit into the former), I humbly suggest you look round the AU thread before planning any AU.

The last point to make is that this forum attracts a wide range of nationalities and age groups from 15 to 70. We all need to bear this in mind when posting, adults and teenagers don't neccessarily share the same viewpoints, this is self evident in the this thread. We can cut some slack to the younger members who aren't neccessarily experts on ship design, but likewise older members won't share much interest in nationstates inspired works either. Respect and good manners are key for a happy ship. And a happy ship is an efficent ship.

I've already locked one thread, I don't want to have to end this thread the same way but will do if no progress is made.
