It is not a real design it is for an AU.

It doesn't matter, if it's near-impossible to build, then it wont be built no matter the AU-iness or not...

How is it impossible to build?
May I remind you that this is not that big.

not that big :O
here I give you:
biggest warship ever: enterprise, 342 m
biggest ship ever: knock nevis, 458m
biggest battleship ever: yamato, 263m
longest battleship ever: iowa, 270m
your ship: about 410m.

about the knock nevis should be said that this ship was considered too big to be managable, because of that she is scrapped now. I won't talk about the strenght of warships that size, because you wouldn't understand anything about it (or so it seems), but even if you only think about docking that thing, or mooring her, or anything else an ship needs to do apart from staying afloat.

I have to add that it would be buildable if your design actually made sense. heuhens design, of which you took the hull, at least made some sense. it could have been build, but would be extremely difficult and unpractical. what you are currently making is indeed impossible.

Just because it is big does not mean it is impossible.

No, it still means it's totally infeasible and daft to bother with in the first place. I really don't know why you bother with these outlandish designs.

That's what she said!

Seriously though, structures (especially moving ones) of large size always have been a challenge to human technology. So when you say "it's possible" don't forget to add what technology level you keep in mind.

what I think whyme means is that such an ship is difficult to build even today. today we have some ships of about the size of your ship..... which are merchants. it is technologically almost impossible to make that ship whitstand the blast of the guns, let alone taking enemy hits. it is possible to make a ship this big, but with the design you have now it is not. that is what we are all trying to tell you. and all we tell you discard, so now it is enough for me. if you don't do anything about it, I will refrain from posting in this thread and any new ships like this you might start on. I think others feel the same way.
