Lando class
Hevy cruiser

At the start of the 1890 Admiral John Gunnarson sent a request to the international and domestic shipyard for two heavily armed and well armored cruiser.

they got four proposition, and the fleet's engineers went over them with a comb, and came with one proposition for a 110 meter long cruise. they chose to provided them with two 210mm. Something that made someone to classified them as coastal defense ships. The ships were built by the internationale Hood steal works. They were equipped with twin steam engines at 9800 shp, an estimated range of 2000nm at 12 knots, under seatest managed "Lando" to reach 18.3 knots at 12,200 shp, 17.4 knots when she was driving within the safety limits of the machine.

Half year later came "Marun" up to 19 knots but she had much more powerful engines, than "Lando" This meant that Lando class cruisers was considered an abnormal fast ship of its time!

"Lando" had a crew of 512, while "Marun" had a crew of 532, because she needed a bigger crew for the engine room. There was plenty of room for the crew. and is considered a very good seaboat.

Both cruisers had a direct hit on the superstructure and front cannon of the battleship, both cruisers used this confusion to get out of a situation they should not have been in.

26. October 1907: Both ships commanders got refs for having opened fire, but also the credit that they interpreted the situation correctly and decided to go out with Battle redy ships. if they had not done it so it could be that both cruisers could have been lost.

3. In March 1908. Haram declared war against Landorian , when they attacked the Netherlands, some they have a defense pact with.

4. March 1908: sent "Lando" and "Marun" out with the 3 royal fleet.

6. March 1908: arrives in the Netherlands and put under the command of a Dutch Admiral.

7. 8. 9 March 1908: in heavy fighting with the Landorian 6 fleet and 3 destroyer division.
8. March 1908: "Lando" sinks after have received several direct hits when "Lando" and "Marun" protected the Left flank.

10th March 1908: Haram main fleet arrived, consisting the 9th 10th Fleet and 3th troop transport fleet under the command of Admiral John Gunnarson.

27. April 1908: Landorian started to withdraw.

12. April 1908: granted Admiral John Gunnarsson, one last journey for "Marun" before she was laid up, because she was getting to old.



To replace Lando class, decided Haram to build 4 fast cruiser of Odin class. They were a little heavy armed, but for Haram it was important with have a cruiser that was fast enough to create problems for the enemy's tactics And can surprise with superior firepower.

They were quickly nicknamed "Mini-battle cruiser" for their speed and armament.
