I waited long for a Tachikaze,thank you Novice! Chikugo class:That exactly I had in my mind when decided to make my AU Antisubmarine Konon with the ASROC,but is a bit larger from Chikygo.

These are welcome additions, getting the JMSDF properly represented; well done shipmate

The JMSDF project is nearly done now.

The Ayanami class had a feature that so distinguished the IJN destroyers during WW2: torpedo re-loads

And now the end of the project
The Yamagumo class anti-submarine destroyers (DDK) were all diesel driven, and quite fast for diesel only ships (28 kts). 9 ships were of the Yamagumo class, with 3 of them being the Minegumo sub-class.
The difference was that the Yamagumo class had ASROC, while the Minegumo had DASH.

It is interesting to note that the JMSDF was more succesfull than the USN in operating DASH, of the 17 drones bought from Gyrodine only 3 were lost. With the failure of DASH program, and the end of production of drones, the JMSDF turned back to the ASROC, and after 3 Yamagumo (DDK113-115) and 3 Minegumo (DDK116-118) the rest were of the Yamagumo class (DDK119-121).

very interesting ships, and as always, very well drawn. do you know what main search radar that is? and what is the dome aft of the funnel? (just wondering, I do not know a lot about japanese systems as these seem to be, and want to learn a bit more )

Search radar is Japanese OPS-11 air search radar. It is related to American SPS-40. The dome is the roof for Mk.63 fire control radar used with the aft 3"/50 guns.

If I were right Minegumo class have their DASH removed in late 70's and have the ASROC 'Pepperbox' installed on the helideck.
