Two questions:

1) Are there too many light ships with armored belt? On the corvette, it looks ... strangely

2) Lack of destroyers forces -is very strange. Maritime nations of the 3rd class (such as most of South America) has been actively buying destroyers - a cheap and effective means of defense

Redhorse, first of all, hats off to you, sir, for your service.

Secondly, I really admire both your artistry and the thought behind this AU. I'm taking notes as I read this.

I would third the suggestion for Destroyers...Even when Battleships and Cruisers are the stars of the show, Destroyers always have been the workhorses.

The Navy will really start to grow after Brazil and Argentina get their first battleships. Congress will increase the size to 4500 men, and it will grow considerably again for WWI.
Brazilian "Akidaban" and "Rishauello" were built in the 1880s. For a some time they were the strongest ships in the Western Hemisphere.

To be precise, the 1893rd year of the fleet in Brazil include:

2 Battleship class 2

Two ocean-going monitor

Bronepalubny a cruiser

Three non-armored cruiser

About 15 gunboats and sloops

About 20 of different classes torpedo-gunboat and other torpedo-ships

1. Those are waterline belts, which were considered sufficent for the time. The corvettes are the oldest ships in the fleet - built with iron hulls in the early 1880s. All the other ships have steel hulls. They're obselete and will be replaced as soon as possible.

2. Destroyers will be a big focus next. Texas will shift to fleet action for a strategy and will need them to protect the larger ships against the torpedo boat threat. You're correct about the South American navies.

When I referenced battleships, I meant the 'dreadnought' types built after 1905, the 'all big-gun' ships.

Destroyers are harder to get right in the Springsharp program, which I use to make sure the designs are feasible. It will take me a little more time to put them together.

I am proud to serve my country, but much prouder to defend any decent, peace-loving people.

O, clear. But of all do not forget that the Brazilian Navy from 1883 to 1889 had the two strongest ones in the Western Hemisphere.

I'm not sure that Texas can build ships that are comparable to "Akibadanom" and "Rishauello." It would be logical that in order to counter this threat, Texas to build minonosny fleet.

For the Dreadnaughts, will you be going the direction of pure battleships, a battlecruiser, or a mix (not sure how much you could mix if it's a small fleet, though)

Red, I did my 1938 Patrol Gunboat design in SpringSharp, and it is smaller than a destroyer. Again you are welcome to use it for your RTX AU.

Agreed...will they be named after Heroes of the Republic? (i.e., Stephen F. Austin, William B. Travis, and Sam Houston)?

And will there be CVs as well? :)
