What a pleasure to find this :D And yes, just shows what can be done when talents combine. My only point of disagreement is not with the great drawing, but with the actual CVA-01 project. IIRC, by the time it was cancelled it had been compromised by added-on design changes, leaving the ship (if built) not fully suited for the role intended. That said, the same could also be applied to the Charles de Gaulle, but at least she got built! My point is that the British were their own worse enemies, in having a shambolic procurement process - witness the TSR2 :x

Second version is so much better. THX BH.
Is is said that when CVA-01 was cancelled the project-leader said it was the happiest day of his life. He was reffering to all those little things the beancounters added to the ship without adding more money. The ship was not big enough for its missions, the Treasury mistaking hull size with cost (see Type 42 destroyers)

If the British had this bad boy in their fleet, maybe the Argies would've thought twice before invading the Falklands. ;)

As always when you get your hands on a carrier (whether build or not build) it is marvellous :!: I might hurry up to made the badge for QE which she would haved received if she was build.

This drawing is super cool. Inspiration for me to get back into Shipbucket.

But I do have one little nit pick. The Phantoms have the Omega marking which was only used because they were supposed to be the last FAA fixed wing unit. If CVA-01 had been built the Labour Party's plan to decomission all the carriers would never have happened so they never would have used the Omega marking.

The 892 Squadron crest has a lightning bolt above a winged eye. I've done a quick edit of how this could look in place of the Omega on the Phantom's tail.

Just a conversation starter. Of course you can keep the Omega or use anything in its place. 892 Squadron had a picture of a dog howling at the moon on the tails of their Sea Vixens
