Sweden is fighting Japan in the Pacific when Japan tries to invade the Swedish colonies there. Participating in many of the early battles in the western Pacific. Especially cruiser raiding operations, Thus not joining the european war until late 1943 therefor lend lease Hellcats.

How does the F4J Fury compare to the Venom as a carrier fighter?

Much of the IRL intelligence that sweden gathered where traded to the british and americans. Sweden kind of became a silent allie to NATO in the 1950s. The C-47/ Tp79 on SIGINT mission that was shoot down by soviet mig 15s where flying with loads of classified NATO equipment.

I believe the F4J Fury was a faster plane thant the Vampire, and more suited to carrier opertions. IIRC the Fury was developed from the F86 Sabre (at least the later versions of the Fury).

Well the Vampire where newer suited for carrier service but her bigger sister where. The F3J Fury is a bit faster and smaller than the Venom. But the Venom has radar and more powerful weaponry and is all weather capable. Both aircraft served about the same time. I think I'll go for the Venom to continue the line of british fighers instead US the The "RSwNFS" uses after the the war.

The Sea Venom would be the better choice, though strictly speaking the Fury was designed around a different role; and (in real life) Sweden did operate the NF.Mk.51. I also think the French got better 'mileage' out of the type with Aquilon variants.

Interesting that Sweden (here) is engaged with the Japanese via the Pacific colonies.

Good point about the Cold War activities: the USA and UK were very involved with Sweden in intelligence gathering.
