Well I've altered the drawings with low down keels without stabilisers for the time being until definite evidence comes to light. I fear the stabilisers on the plan were too high, they would not be keel mounted being mid-way up the hull!

Does anybody have Friedman's recent RN book yet? I swung through the library yesterday to see if Rebuilding the Royal Navy had any information on Bristol's naughty bits, but there was nothing at all on roll stabilizers.

It's not in his cruiser book, and the one about post-war destroyers and frigates haven't arrived yet.

I have Friedman's book on British destroyers, but the only drawing of HMS Bristol as built (as opposed to as designed) if actually a cut-away, which doesn't the bilge-keels, stabilizers, but the internal arrangement of the hull.

There should be some machinery spaces just inboard of the stabilizers, but they probably aren't shown unless you have a deck plan.

Yeah its annoying, there are great plans of Leander and Type 42 by A.D. Baker etc in Friedman's destroyers book but no plans at all of Type 82 except for two cut-aways, an inital design and the final design. Most the photos are stern shots and not too clear on all aspects of the ship's layout.
The plan from Jacobin is too small on google imgaes to get much from but does only seem to show three stabilisers and of course they and the bilge keels seem to be far from the bilge or the keel!

I think the lesson here for all artists is to either be 100% sure of the underwater hull or leave it alone. Personally speaking they seem to cause the most trouble during the drawing phase.
