In about a minute local time here (U.K.) the first hijacked passenger airplane hit one of the twin towers of the World Trade Centre. I'm currently listening to BBC Radio 4 and there has been almost continuous coverage since this morning. I won't presume to comment on this anniversary, but simply say that I'm sure our thoughts are with the people of the USA today.
Maybe (as a suggestion?) mention where we were on that day:
My wife and I were staying in the grounds of Thirlestane Castle at Lauder in Scotland. We spent the day searching church graveyards to trace her family, completely oblivious of the tragedy unfolding. The Factor of the Castle mentioned something to me later, but I thought he was a making it up. It wasn't to the next day, when we went to Edinburgh, that the reality hit, and we sat in our friends appartment watching over and over again the images.

Just watching the tv before school, I was really young then, I remember watching it all, not sure if live or I had been asleep then. I knew it was very bad even though I had no idea of the ramifications

I was still in secondary school, a teacher came in during one of the lessons and said an aircraft had crashed into a building in New York, didn't find out that a second had hit plus the pentagon and flight 93 details until after I got home later in the afternoon. I remember my mom saying to me when I got in that about the latter.

I was home with my father that was arrived that morning from the JFK...
I remember that a neighbor told me about a film with an aircraft on the TV, I saw it and (as a child that I was) I changed channel cause was not a nice film...
But changing channel there were always the same images, so me and my family realize that was not a film...
The thing I most remember was that I cried a lot, and all the time that I see those images my heart cry, and some times not only my heart...

I was sitting in a basement at the school and rebuilt laptops, when I heard it. First I thought, an accident that might happen when it is so crowded there, but then came the second aircraft ...

I recall beeing browsing on net whole afternoon and beeing utterly in oblivion of the world untill later the evening when i turned on the TV to see live footage of the first tower collapsing. I also had that, this movie is great feelin, untill I switched to the other channels who also showed similar footage. I have to also admit that when I realised that it was real, I didn't have this "How can this happen?" feeling, but "Ok, so now it is happening..." feeling instead. A sort of adrealine rush about world war three beging and all that sort of crap...

I was at home for the dinner time, a day of school's class, and I watched it on TV.
