You are aware that 'forts' had massive tails? Maybe not the dorsal fin but a large tail nonetheless.

I know they do but it looks out of scale with Hoods.

Well, it won't be, we're dealing with an old pro here. That apart, this is interesting; as it reminds me of how Heinkel began the 111 series with a seperate cockpit above the nose, then went for the glazed in nose as preferable. From flying a captured 111 the Allied assessment was positive re visual sight from the plexiglass nose, apart from rain and bright sunlight. And of course, Boeing choose a similar layout for the later B-29 bomber, and the Soviets eventually reverted back to a seperate cockpit above the bomb aiming position in their cloned B-29 bombers.

That is interesting! I assume that would be the TU-4 "Bull" that the soviets re-engineered from the B-29? I thought they were basically the same except with a few red stars here and there

So copied from a copy? I suppose it could work as a AWACS aircraft but IIRC it didn't work

You need to remember that Russian Tu-4 is one of the best copies on history - only near 1% different between masses although they take B-29 in inches and made Tu-4 in metres.
