Unfortunately I have sinned and come up with a rather silly AU and proceeded to give it some thought unfortunately for everyone else
This AU will
properly commence as soon as all ship currently on my Australian Navy AU worklist are finished.
Just a few notes-(An I would prefer if no-one really brought these up as I have mentioned these here)
*Planes are basically non-existent, Airships and blimps are the main source of aviation
*Due to a very large Industrial revolution, the pack ice rarely reaches Parry Channel, as well as warmer temperatures
Here a short piece on the history between 1630-1935
In 1630 AD, a Monarchy on Baffin island is founded by a European family which had been exiled from Iceland, which began to develop the area around Iqaluit. This little kingdom was cut off from outside contact for over a century, by which time the entire island had been claimed and a small population of 500 thousand. The kingdom was a mining, fishing and agricultural based economy which had a majority population of the Inuit who were treat as equals to the Europeans.
The nation remained very unchanged until the start of the Industrial revolution when the new king pushed the small nation forwards and encouraged larger families and started diplomatic ties with Britain.
After a disastrous and short American Civil war which lead to the involvement of an independent Canada and the South signing an agreement to secure it's future and to abolish proper slavery, the North was surrounded by forces who were diplomatically hostile. Soon after, the rapid expansion began, taking all islands north of Canada and starting a modern fleet. At first dependent on British builders, by the turn of the century new shipyards and companies where laying keels down at a remarkable rate. Unlike many navies which a considerable amount of battleships which had been made obsolete by the coming of Dreadnought. It took Tallida 3 years to a have a Dreadnought launched. In 1914 the Great War started, Canada refusing to uphold any agreements with the CSA and Tallida invaded northern Canada whilst Quebec protested.
After the Great war ended in 1920, four new arms race began, the first and largest between the the South American nations of Argentina, Bahia, Brasil, Bolivia, Chile and Peru. The second was solely between the Mormon State of Deseret and Mexico, over the control of Baja California. The third was rather an extension of the second which was Mexico attempting to cut Yucatan from the Pacific. The fourth was between Qubec and the so called Atlantic Allied Kingdoms(Labrador, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia) Unable to provide much for their own home navies, due to the new Lisbon Treaty which limited capital ship construction, the shipyards of the superpowers sought clients in these competitions.
By 1935, limitations were removed, though Japan was exempted by 1930, starting a rather belated renewal of building of Capital warships, Tallida began aggressive advances into a now socialist Canada, backed by Newfoundland and Labrador whilst a short war erupted in Mexico, resulting in a major defeat for Yucatan.
More to come as I can be released from the grip of schoolwork
