Here is another classic.
The 'Four Aces' were four passenger-cargo ships of the American Export Line. Built during the war as Amphibious Attack Transports (APA), four were converted with accomodation for 125 passengers, the passengers areas all being air-conditioned. The ships were name Exeter, Excambion, Excalibur and Exochorda. These ships were replacement for the pre-war 'Four Aces' sister-ships built in 1929-1931, three of which were sunk during the war while acting as Attack Transports, the fourth being sold in 1952 to Turkey as Tarsus.
