As most here know, in the Non-Shipbucket Drawings forum we have expanded beyond ships and even SB scale, to FD Scale, Carbucket, and even Gunbucket. I initially had an idea floating around to have Bridgebucket, after noticing stylistic similarities between bridges and ships. Basically, my idea centered around drawing various real (past and present), never built, alternate, and personally-designed bridges at Shipbucket scale and using Shipbucket style, shading, shadowing, etc, but I haven't been bothered to post it until now. Other rules would be quite simple; stretching to where the bridge meets land and begins/ends, coloring darker with a slightly blue hue below the waterline, and respect for bridges the way we respect ships (no rusty or decrepit bridges).
Then, I realized a bigger picture (no pun intended) when thinking of this. There are a few lineart-centered communities around (most notably LInc), but they are quite loose with style, scale, etc, just general lineart so long as it is either your own or fair use. However, at Shipbucket we have set, established, and relatively easy-to-understand scales and style (the most common obviously being SB), and our Bucketeers are very well-trained and well-versed in these styles.
Thusly, it shouldn't be difficult for our more experienced members (especially the likes of Vossiej and ALVAMA), in a visually-pleasing style, to master the drawing to scale of just about any visible structure in existence.
As a result I have expanded my idea not just to bridges but also to buildings. The buildings would be drawn at Shipbucket scale and style (or FD for smaller buildings), with the general rules such as respect for drawings. The only special rule I would envision is that the scale key become vertical if the structure's length significantly exceeds its width (for example a horizontal marker for buildings like the Pentagon but vertical for the Willis Tower).
I just thought I'd pitch these ideas to the rest of the community, to see what you guys think, any suggestions or recommendations you might have, or better yet some volunteers willing to experiment with this. Drawings would go in the Non-Shipbucket forum (even though it would be SB scale and style), but I'm posting this here because right now it's just an idea and I do not yet have any goods to bring to the table.
