Shipbucket

First post on the forums, and not posted in the beginner's section because I don't intend to draw it shipbucket style.



I'm working on an upgrade package for the OHP for a project for another site, and used a shipbucket design for a starting point because it looked rather good in comparison to some other stuff that I've seen out there. For the most part its the same weaponry, but now I'm going back to rework the drawing and I've got mediocre feedback from one place that I went to for advice, so I was hoping to get some feedback here.

My current plans ATM are;

• Replace the VLS cell with a Mk-26 launcher. Was told by some members on another site that I wouldn't be able to fit the complete suite of missiles that I'd intended from it (Similar armament to the Arleigh Burke) with the VLS cells, and nobody replied to my post inquiring whether or not the Mk-26 would fit or not, so that's a go..
• Remove armament at midships, replace with extended superstructure.

I'd also thought of moving the bridge area back, but nobody responded to that either and I rather like the way that the forward superstructure looks at the moment..

Does anybody here have any input? (Non-consistent of complaining about the styling. I'm already well aware after lurking here how some of you feel about SB/GB/Whatever Bucket you want to talk about styling)

Why upgrade the Perry to carry Burke level armament?
The entire point of the Perry is to be cheap and numerous. This was achieved by shrink wrapping it around the minimum necessary systems required for its mission. Start fitting it with AEGIS etc and price will go up drastically, which means it won't be numerous and therefore it will have failed its primary mission.

And I agree with Alvama. Why the watermark?

Also, I think they have a lot of aluminium, especially in the superstructure, which won't allow any more weight added on top without seriously rebuilding the ship. Unless of course it is a fantasy design, in whixh case it is great.

The OHP was built to be in numbers in order to escort convoys. This task was for the newer WWII destroyers such as the Fletcher, Sumner and Gearing classes well into the 60`s-70`s. When the OHP began to appear in numbers they took over this role. If you want a refit of the OHP, try something a little less extensive, costly and more practical and more relevant to escort duty. This looks a lot like the Spanish frigate Alvaro De Bazan.

That's not an upgrade, that's an all new ship.

This^, the forward superstructure is nothing similar to what I remember from my visit to the HMAS Melbourne (an Aussie OHP)

There's no such thing as "nothing left to draw" If you can down 10 pints and draw, you're doing alright by my standards

apart from the watermark and the wrong or old parts, I cannot think of any reason why this is in non-sb section.....

This as well. As I said, the Perry class is essentially shrink-wrapped around its systems, making it almost impossible to rearrange its innards.
