This hydrographic vessel launched in 1940 had an unusual feature - a floatplane on board.
It survived the WW2 armed with a single 76-mm gun and sunk in 1947 near Cape Verde due to a navigation error.

Bellatrix class patrol boats were used during conflicts in Portuguese colonies in Guinea and Mozambique. The first eight boats were built in Germany, the last five - in Portugal. Despite being slightly different all of them were included in a single class. All the boats were abandoned overseas in the 1970's after the conflicts were over.
