BAe cancelled the 155mm if IIRC.
They couldn't get the desired rate of fire because of the two part ammunition.

not an insurmountable problem considering 2 piece ammo came from naval gunnery. If the investment was there to make 155mm in single piece it could be done. Though how you alter the ballistics with out changing charge bags would be interesting.

Making unitary 155mm ammunition isn't a problem, but the entire point of using 155mm guns in the first place is commonality with land based artillery.

yeap and most I think all land based systems use 2 piece ammo with incremental charge bags to allow for range though this can be altered using trajectory of round to a certain extent as most 155's are Howitizers as opposed to guns.
