Here is my first real design :) She is 109 years old Lady and still running; with diesel though.

The hull could use a bit more shading, I'm not sure if I see any at all

nice, a few comments though:
where exactly is the main deck? seeing from your railing, it is on the black lines, but the 'gap' in the bulwark and the positions of a door and the scuttles seem to show it lower
also, the hull shading isn't entirely correct. following sb? yes, but it does not show the hull correclty, if I'm correct. the widest point of the hull should not be the point you have your prop, so somewhere the hull should shape towards a skeg or something.

That would be because the deck is raised from the deckhouse and aft.

possibly, but the scuttles don't raise and the door of the bridge seems to be lower as well... not matching up with the railing. hence why I am a bit puzzled.

According to this picture the scuttles under the deckhouse isn't scuttles after all, but proper windows, and they are mounted higher.

If the drawing I posted is to be believed, then the underwater hull should be either black or very dark grey.
