Maybe use the Millennium Gun, as it has a reduced RCS (stealthy) case.
Millenium gun is nice, but this Goalkeeper 2 (Plan for 2015 test year +) is to be less visible for the radar, and it works quite well because of its shape.
Ofcourse it isnt 100% stealth, but its a small item on a ship that isnt 100% stealth either.

As a replacement CIWS. It would also make a nice Somali-chipper if need be.

Pre-post edit
I was assuming that current systems would take precedence over future systems, but of course this is an NS design.

In that case, actually, use a Metal Storm CIWS.

Eh, I'd choose AHEAD ammo over high velocity .50 for pirate munching, but that's just my opinion.

Oh dear, this is indeed a difficult choice. 12 kilometer range and 8000 rpm, or AHEAD munitions? It's difficult for me to decide which one would be best. Of course the Millenium gun would better fulfill my anti-piracy activities, but the power of the Goalkeeper....

I suppose both would be overkill?

Mitch, I like your .50 turret. It seems a little large for a fifty, but I like it. Has its own radar, I see?

Also, on an unrelated note, do you happen to know what kind of operation the Goalkeeper 2 actually uses? At first I thought it had a gattling gun (how else would it have such an amazing ROF) but looking at your drawing closely it seems like it has just one barrel, with a gas tube above it?

Carnac, as for your suggestion, I'm sorry but I'd say Metal Storm sucks. Even for near-future applications. Future Weapons bullshit. And I think you and most others will agree with me. On NSD no one could say much positive about it either; I can't help it either that it is such an ineffective way of storing bullets. Maybe for a CIWS it works, but after one volley an entire crew needs to spend fifteen minuts on reloading it. Millenium gun seems nice though.

According to the news (There is only one story, and one picture on defence nets).
It has a 8 barreled Gatling gun, and 2 drums (Like the original goalkeeper). And uses MK2 of everything the goalkeeper has (Like. The air search, and track radar).

Meanwhile, back to the drawing. I hope I did not mess up the stern of the Anghellis?
