If the Burkes and other ships go to 70 years (and this I have trouble beliving, Father Ocean is hard on small tincans) is it possible some class of ships may go 100 years of active service and I mean real service, not tied to a dock or goes out to sea twice a year or so. Has this ever been done?
This would be the same as the HMS Indefatigable still serving today. (Which gives me an idea for a AU ship or two)
Last year I was living on a Dutch Tjalk that was built in 1897. See it
here. It hasn't been out at sea for ten years or so, but apparentley it used to be used for racing during the 60s-70s. I have no idea really, it's not even a ship, I just know its pretty darned old!!!
